Private sector can help govt by procuring COVID-19 vaccine, medical equipment: CNI



KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has asked the government to allow the private sector to import COVID-19 vaccines to help curbing the second wave of COVID-19 infection.

An emergency meeting of CNI held Monday expressed willingness to help the government in the fight against COVID-19 cases of which are sharply on the rise. The CNI drew the government’s attention to the necessity of involving the private sector in vaccine and medical supply procurement to avoid crisis at a later stage.

Moreover, the confederation also demands that employees of industry and transport sector be prioritized for vaccination. It also calls on industries to operate by meeting all health safety standards and manage quarantine facility for workers testing positive for the virus.

CNI has also urged the government to waive off taxes for business and industries involved in procurement and manufacturing of health equipment and encourage investment in health sector.
