KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu has been closed due to lack of aerial visibility on Friday.
According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Airport Office, the flight was canceled due to lack of necessary visibility at the airport.
According to Pratap Tiwari, the Chief of Authority’s TIA office, the flight has been closed since 3 p.m.
“The minimum visibility for the operation of the flights is up to 800 meters, but Kathmandu has it far less now,” he said.
Likewise, the visibility requirement for the small plane’s landing is 1,600 meters and larger ones it should be 2,800 meters.
It’s still uncertain when the operation will return to normalcy, sources said.
