Use of force against civil society protest reprehensible: NC leader Singh



KATHMANDU: Leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Prakash Man Singh has condemned the police crackdown on the civil society leaders who have hit the streets against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

Commenting on the government’s crackdown on the civil society protest, NC leader Singh said that the intervention in the peaceful agitation has exposed the dictatorial character of the incumbent government.

“The police crackdown on the peaceful protestors in Baluwatar on Monday has exposed the dictatorial and authoritarian character of the current government led by Prime Minister KP Oli,” former Deputy Prime Minister Singh written on social media, adding, “The intervention to silence the voice of the civil movement protesting against the unconstitutional move of the government is reprehensible.”

Stating that everyone can have their say in democracy, Singh has called on the government to develop a character that can listen to the voice of dissent.”

He has also urged all citizens to unite and stand up for the safeguard of democracy and the democratic system.
