NC’s first meet of newly elected CWC ends after sitting for 15 minutes

KATHMANDU: The first meeting of the newly elected Central Working Committee (CWC) held after the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) has concluded after sitting for 15 minutes.

The CWC meeting that started at around 1:45 pm on Saturday at the NC party office in Sanepa ended after 15 minutes.

At the meeting today, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba congratulated the newly elected CWC members and conveyed the purpose of the first meeting.

“Today is Christmas Day, a public holiday, but we had to convene the meeting,” he said. “The deadline for registering the party for the National Assembly election is until today. After holding this meeting, we are applying for the party registration tomorrow.”

A constitutional provision mandates political parties to notify the Election Commission about the newly elected CWC of the parties by holding the general convention within five and a half years. Accordingly, the NC’s newly elected CWC meeting was held today.

The NC will submit the list of members of CWC and all seven provincial CWCs to the Election Committee tomorrow.
