Normal life affected as Humla witnesses three-feet snow

KATHMANDU: The normal life has been brought to a grinding halt due to heavy snowfall, triggering cold waves in Humla district.

The mountainous district has witnessed snowfall since early morning today. The people’s movement from one village to the other village has been disrupted in Hilsa, Nara, Nyalu of northern Namkha rural municipality due to the snowfall.

According to District Police Office, Humla, the temperature in Namkha rural municipality has dipped to minus 8 degree Celsius.
Around three-foot snow has fallen in northern Namkha rural municipality, informed Sonam Chhiring Lama, the ward chairman of Namkha rural municipality-3.

Snowfall brings cheers to farmers

The snowfall has benefitted farmers in the southern belt of the district.

It has helped farmers to grow winter crops such as wheat and barley. With the sudden changes in weather system in the district since Friday evening, the snow started occurring since early morning today.
