Nepal Bar to march from Supreme Court to Baluwatar as part of protest against CJ Rana today

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association, which has been demanding resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, is doing a march-past from Supreme Court to Baluwatar today.

In the march-past organized by the lawyers of Nepal Bar, civil society members, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nepal Teachers Association (NTA), Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA), Nepal Public Health Association (NPHA), Nepal Medical Association (NMA) and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) are participating in the protest rally.

Nepal Bar has appealed to people in general to take part in the rally. Nepal Bar said it will stage a sit-in at the apex court and rally towards Baluwatar, said chairman of the Association Chandeshwor Shrestha.

They will stage a sit-in for an hour starting 2 pm, he said. The Nepal Bar has now started piling pressure on major political parties after Chief Justice did not budge from his stance due to the lack of support from the parties.

Nepal Bar on Monday handed over a memorandum to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina, CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Speaker Suba Nemwang, Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Center) Dev Gurung among others.

Nepal Bar has said it will continue demonstrations until Chief Justice Rana septs down.
