Danish national found dead at Makalu Base Camp

SANKHUWASABHA: A Danish national has passed away at Makalu Base Camp in Makalu rural municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha district.

Henrik Thorbarzon Ederson from Denmark died at Makalu Base Camp, said Shubhesh Adhikari, the information officer of District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.

According to Adhikari, Thorbarzon Ederson was found dead a few kilometers above Makalu Base Camp on Saturday.

A team of 10 mountaineers including three foreigners had left for Makalu Base Camp from Taplejung district on October 11.

Meanwhile, three people — two Danish nationals and one Nepali — were rescued safely on Sunday. They were rescued on a helicopter yesterday, said police.

Preparations are underway to rescue other six Nepali nationals stranded in the snow of Makalu Base Camp.
