KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) is making preparations to defer the 14th General Convention by one and a half months.

The central election committee of the party is holding a meeting today to make public a new schedule after the general convention could not be held on time as per the schedule due to internal disputes, informed Mahadev Prasad Yadav, the coordinator of the central election committee.

Earlier, NC had decided to hold the general convention of the party from November 25 to 29.

The district convention has been held only in 13 districts out of 64 districts where the ward and village/municipal convention has begun.
According to Yadav, village/municipal conventions have been held only in 46 districts.

The convention has not even started in Dolpa, Kailali, Banke, Surkhet, Rasuwa including eight districts of Province 2 due to active membership row.

The NC should have concluded district conventions by October 4 and Pradesh conventions from October 27 to 29 as per the original schedule.
