KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has issued certificates to the newly registered political parties – CPN Unified Socialist and the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) Wednesday.
The CPN (Unified Socialist) Party is led by Madhav Kumar Nepal while the DSP is led by Mahanta Thakur.
According to Election Commission Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha, they have been given the certificates for a national political party after verification of the members.
Leaders of both the parties had reached the EC Wednesday afternoon and identified themselves before the EC officials.

Meanwhile, leader Jhala Nath Khanal, on the other hand, verified himself by sending a letter from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, India to the EC.
The recently issued ordinance provides that 20 percent of the members of the Central Committee or the parliamentary party can register a new party.

The UML Central Committee had 203 members. The number of registered people to register a new party reaches 26.60 percent.
