Speaker Sapkota working against democratic values: UML Chair Oli

Alleges Madhav Kumar Nepal for taking hostage of party leaders

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has come down heavily on Speaker Agni Sapkota for going against democratic values and principles.

“I wonder why he is hell-bent on splitting the CPN-UML,” Oli told a press conference on Wednesday.

He also criticized Speaker Sapkota for not relieving 14 CPN-UML lawmakers from the House of Representatives (HoR) against whom the party has taken action.

“I strongly ask the Speaker to immediately issue a notice relieving them from the parliament,” Oli said, adding, “Failure to do so will be an undemocratic, unconstitutional and regressive gesture.”

He also criticized the Chairman of the proposed CPN (Unified-Socialist) party for taking hostage of party leaders in the pretext of forming a new party.

“This is a theatrical act,” Oli said coming down heavily on CPN (Unified-Socialist) for splitting the party.

He also did not spare Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for failing to act as per the people’s aspirations.

“I can feel that Prime Minister Deuba has no role to play despite being the country’s Prime Minister,” he added.
