SC refuses to issue interim order on JSP Chair Thakur’s writ against EC

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to issue an interim order in the writ filed by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur against the Election Commission (EC).

A bench of Justice Kumar Regmi Sunday called both the petitioner and the defendant for a discussion on July 30. Similarly, the SC also requested a copy of EC’s decision.

Earlier, the EC  had summoned all members of JSP Executive Committee for verification on July 26 to resolve authenticity claim of the JSP. JSP Chair Thakur had filed a writ petition to revoke the EC summon.

The hearing was carried out virtually.
