Toll due to landslides, floods in India’s Maharashtra rises to 112



MUMBAI: As many as 112 lives have been lost and at least 53 people have been injured in the Indian state of Maharashtra so far in rain-related incidents.

In the last three days, the Pune and Konkan divisions in the state have witnessed torrential rains triggering landslides and floods in several areas.

The toll from rain-related incidents has risen to 112 while 99 people remain missing as of Saturday evening, according to India Today.

The state and central governments have announced financial assistance for the kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile, over 3,000 cattle have also died as a result of the rains, it said.

As many as 1,35,313 people have been shifted from flood-affected areas to safer places.
