UML Standing Committee gets authority to take action against rebel faction

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has been taking into consideration probable attempts by rival faction of the party to file no-confidence motion, cross floor against establishment faction-led governments and has delegated the power to take action against such activities to its Standing Committee (SC).

The meeting of General Convention Organizing Committee held Sunday in Baluwatar deduced that the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction could engage in activities that are against the interest of the establishment faction led by UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli.

Party Spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali said the party entrusted the Standing Committee (SC) with the authority to proceed further action against rebel lawmakers.

“We have been informed that attempts as seen in Karnali Province are likely to repeat and the party will take necessary action at an appropriate time,” Gyawali said.
