UML leaders Nepal, Rawal submit clarification

KATHMANDU: Two leaders of the CPN-UML have submitted their clarification to party Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli Thursday.

Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has submitted a 13-point clarification and leader Bhim Rawal a 14-point clarification to PM Oli.

A meeting of the UML Central Committee convened in Baluwatar on March 20 had decided to seek clarification from Rawal, senior leaders Madhav Nepal, Surendra Pandey, and Ghanshyam Bhusal for speaking publicly against the party and the government, and holding parallel meetings of the party.

In their clarification, the two leaders have also posed counter questions to the party chair. They have accused UML Chairman Oli of not abiding by the party rules, regulations and processes and sought clarification from Oli for recent decisions taken by him.

Senior leader Nepal raised objection to the party chair’s move of appointing 23 former Maoist leaders as the party’s Central Committee (CC) members. He charged the party chair had no intention of rectifying the unilateral decision taken to divest all leaders close to him off their responsibility on March 17.

Leader Nepal also alleged that Oli’s actions affected the communist movement and that he did not want bolster party unity.

Leader Rawal refuted the allegation that he had embezzled Rs three million of Sudurpaschim Province Committee and instead called on UML Chair Oli to state his intention with regard to the party Rs 180 million.
