‘Samjhanama Rus’ made public

KATHMANDU: A compendium of writings, ‘Samjhanama Rus’ (Russia in Memory), has been made public here Wednesday. The compendium has commemorative writings by those who attained university education in the former USSR and Russia.

The book published by Nepal-Russia Society is penned by Krishna Prakash Shrestha, Kanhaiya Nasnani, Chandra Kant Acharya, Dr Jangam Chauhan, Jiba Lamichhane, Dr Prakash Raj Regmi, and Bishnu Bahadur Singh. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali released the book amidst a function.

The writers have depicted well their university lives, study, and cordial relations they developed with Russia in addition to the socio-economic, educational, cultural, historical specificities.

On the occasion, Minister Gyawali viewed that the book could serve as a lattice window to know the civilization and glorious culture of Russia. Russia is the fusion of history and modernity, he observed, adding the writings have aptly brought to light various aspects of Russian society.

Critiquing the book, the litterateur and Chairperson of the National News Agency (RSS), Shyamal, observed that the book meticulously explored the sentiment, reflection, and values of Russian society. “Understanding Russia is learning more than its geography- its society, which the book has a lucid description.”

Litterateur Shyam asserted, “It is an unrivaled oeuvre of Nepali literature.”

Similarly, Minister Counsel at Russian Embassy in Kathmandu, Acisiv Victor Victorovich, said the compendium would contribute tremendously to cement Nepal-Russia relations. “It is a symbol of deep memory,” he added.
