KATHMANDU: Vice Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bamdev Gautam held a discussion with party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of the Prachanda-Nepal faction at the latter’s residence in Khumaltar on Thursday morning.

During the half-an-hour-long meeting, Gautam urged Prachanda to stand in favor of party unity, according to Gautam’s press advisor Bishwamani Subedi.

The NCP has witnessed a virtual split with two factions — KP Oli faction and Prachanda-Nepal faction — alleging one another for inviting instability.

NCP Vice Chairman Gautam, meanwhile, has been reiterating his stance of party unity.

Gautam met Prachanda first time after the Supreme Court overturned Prime Minister Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.

In response, Prachanda ruled out the possibility of cooperation with KP Oli in the current situation despite being in favor of party unity.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Gautam had issued a statement demanding PM Oli’s immediate resignation.
