Elections in stipulated dates: PM Oli



DANG: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the decision on Parliament dissolution was taken in line with the Constitution.

Speaking after inaugurating a bridge constructed over the Rapti River in Rapti valley here today, Prime Minister Oli, also chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), clarified that the parliament dissolution was made to go for fresh elections and emphasized that the election will be held on the dates that have been announced.

He further urged the party cadres to prepare for new elections. He further shared that the party and government were working for intensifying developmental projects ensuring social justice, good governance and access to opportunities.

Oli also stressed developing the local infrastructure including roads, irrigation facility by developing the Rapti corridor that lies in the newly designated provincial capital. Prime Minister Oli opined to make Dang district as a model in development adding to develop Bhalubang as the modern capital city and Ghorahi as an industrial city.

On another note, Oli argued that the government was committed to containing the pandemic, and the vaccination facility would be managed for the front line workers in the first round. Likewise, referring to the Election Commission decision, the CPN Chair said the party had not taken action against anyone and they could duly return back by correcting themselves.

Similarly, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel argued that going for a fresh election was a democratic process.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Basant Nembang, Minister for Drinking Water Mani Chandra Thapa argued that there was no alternative than going for a fresh election in the current situation.

The party cadres had reached the mass gathering spot after participating in a rally at different places.
