Police seize half-burnt body from Pashupati, arrest two on charge of murder



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two persons from the Pashupati area on the charge of murder.

The arrested are Ravi Chaudhary, 38, of Bara Shripur and Anu Thapa, 24, of Nuwakot.

According to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, the duo was arrested on the charge of killing Ravi’s 36-year0old wife Babita Devi Chaudhary.

In an incident that happened four days ago, Anu had beaten Babita for stealing her mobile phone.

Babita, who was injured in the beating, died at the Ram temple in Pashupatinath on Saturday.

Ravi and Anu had then tried to cremate the body.

Ravi had initially tried to bury his wife’s body in a ditch. However, since it was not possible, he cremated the body at the same place where he had died.

The body, which was almost burnt, has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for postmortem.

According to the police, Babita suffered head and face injuries from the beating.
