CHITWAN: The closed session of the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which is currently underway in Chitwan, will now begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday.
Party leader Ganesh Parajuli said the session was delayed after disputes over delegate verification, but confirmed that the issues have now been resolved and identity cards are being distributed to participants.
According to Parajuli, preparations for the closed session have resumed after the resolution of disagreements among representatives. Party leaders said the convention will now move forward smoothly following the settlement of procedural issues.
More than 4,000 delegates are participating in the convention, according to party officials.
Earlier, the closed session scheduled for 8:30 am was postponed due to technical and administrative delays related to delegate verification and registration.
Delegates attending the convention expressed frustration over poor preparation and delays, saying the event appeared to have been organized without adequate groundwork. Some representatives also complained about prolonged waiting under harsh conditions and logistical difficulties.
Despite the delays, party leaders said voting for leadership positions is likely to begin later in the evening after the completion of the closed session.
RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said that preparations for voting could begin as early as today evening, depending on the progress of the session.
“The voting process for the leadership positions may begin today itself after the closed session concludes,” he said.
