KALIKOT: Minister for Home Affairs and leader of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Oli faction Ram Bahadur Thapa alias Badal has said that the government has started extensive preparations to hold elections in April.

Minister Thapa was speaking at a press meet organized by Press Organization on Monday.

He said that the government, the Election Commission, and the security forces would be involved in the preparations for the election if the court decides soon.

“The court’s decision will determine whether the election will be held in April or not. If the court decides early, the polls will be held timely. If the court delays verdict, election dates might be rescheduled by few days,” Home Minister Thapa.

On a separate note, Minister Thapa said that the Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav outfit banned by the government will also come into the political mainstream.

He said that the government’s policy to control the group politically and administratively remained the same, adding that efforts were being made to bring the group into the political mainstream soon.
