Student leaders urge PM Deuba to withdraw petroleum price-hike



KATHMANDU: Leaders of various student unions protesting against the price-hike in petroleum products have handed over a memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba demanding reversal of the recent rise in prices of petroleum products.

Six different student organizations jointly handed over a memorandum to PM Deuba on Wednesday.

After receiving the memorandum, Prime Minister Deuba assured that he would take a positive decision after consulting the concerned bodies.

Stating that the government was serious about the demands raised by the students’ union on the issue of price hike, Prime Minister Deuba said that the legitimate demands would be addressed.

Prime Minister Deuba informed that the government was making efforts to adjust the prices as much as possible in consultation with the concerned bodies.

Stating that the rise in the price of petroleum products has had a direct impact on the daily life of the people, the student organizations have been demanding the withdrawal of the increased price.
