Seven injured as fire goes in NC Pyuthan vote count center

KATHMANDU: Seven people were injured in a firing opened by security personnel to control clashes that erupted during the vote count in Pyuthan under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress on Tuesday evening.

The injured have been taken to Butwal for further treatment.

Chief District Officer Khim Raj Bhusal defended the police by saying that they did not open fire.

According to an eyewitness, police had opened four rounds of firings. Meanwhile, a police constable has also sustained injuries.

Nepal Tarun Dal Pyuthan Vice President Royal Krishna and Bijaya Rijal including the injured police constable have been referred to Butwal.
Other injured Kuber Gharti, Kamal Gharti, Khemraj Pandit are undergoing treatment at Pyuthan District Hospital.

Police had used force to control the clash that erupted between Deuba and Paudel groups after Bishnu Paudel, a candidate from Paudel faction, led the vote count.
