Regressive forces are attempting to overthrow federalism: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that some regressive forces are attempting to reverse federalism in the country.

Speaking at a program organized by Padam Bishwakarma Sahitya Pratisthan and Nepal Dalit Sahitya and Culture Academy in Kathmandu on Sunday, the Maoist Center Chair said that some forces are working cunningly to overthrow federalism in the country by portraying himself a criminal.

“There are various regressive forces trying to raise their head under various guises and they are working to defame and overthrow federalism,” he said, adding, “They are trying to foil all the achievements of the historical movement by ‘proving’ me a criminal.”

Prachanda said that there are also attempts to discredit the rebellions against caste discrimination. He recalled that he had to face many allegations for raising the issues of Dalits, Adivasis, Janajatis and women.

He alleged that the mainstream parties are still old-fashioned.

The books ‘Jyoti Sparsh’ and ‘Rato Barood’ were unveiled at the event.
