KATHMANDU: Nuwakot has a total of 76 active cases of coronavirus.

Of the infected, the condition of a patient is critical and is admitted to Trishuli Hospital while 76 others are in home isolation under the observation of the health workers.

Nuwakot district posted 58 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours alone.

The number is the highest daily spike in the recent weeks in Nuwakot.

Information Officer at District Health Office Uttamraj Khanal said that Bidur Municipality reported 36 new cases while seven were seen at Kispang Rural Municipality.

Likewise, four cases were reported from Belkotgadhi Municipality, three each from Suryagadhi, Tandi and Myagang and one from Tarakeshwor Rural Municipality.

Earlier, the infection rate in the district was in the downward trend but the latest surge in the new cases is a matter of concern for public health.

Khanal said that the higher infection rate could be the result of the carelessness of the public in the time of festivals.
