Mohammad Aftab Alam’s writ in ‘not to be heard’ list again

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) bench scheduled for Friday to hear the writ on the petition seeking Mohammad Aftab Alam’s release on bail has kept the writ on not to be heard list.

The writ petition has been declared not eligible for the bench assigned for Friday.

The hearing was assigned to the division bench of Justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Kumar Chudal.

Alam, who is also a Nepali Congress leader, had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the lower court’s decision to remand him in custody till final verdict.

Alam, who was arrested on charges of using explosives to kill the injured of a bomb blast, had filed a writ petition seeking his release on bail after the lower court remanded him in custody.

His writ petition had been filed several times before. However, no hearing was held.

Alam has been made the main accused in the bomb blast at Rajpur, Farhadwa in Rautahat about 14 years ago.
