SC refuses to issue interim order to reinstate Lumbini lawmakers expelled from Maoist Center

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to issue an interim order in the writ petition filed by former Lumbini Province lawmakers Dadhiram Neupane and Dinesh Panthi, who lost their Lumbini Province Assembly seats after the CPN-Maoist Center took action against them, seeking their reinstatement.

A bench of justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Hari Prasad Phuyal Tuesday refused to issue an interim order for their reinstatement.

The duo had faced party action for defecting to the UML. Neupane of Rupandehi and Panthi of Gulmi were inducted to the UML Central Committee (CC) by Prime Minister KP Oli earlier this year following which they were expelled from the Maoist Center and thus lost their parliamentarian status from Lumbini Province.

They had filed a writ seeking their reinstatement at the SC.
