EC allocates time for Madhav Nepal’s party verification

Calls leaders to show before Commission from 11.30 am to 2 pm on Wednesday



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has set a deadline for the verification of the proposed CPN-Unified Socialist, a party recently formed by former Prime Minister and UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

EC spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha informed on Tuesday that the Commission has allotted 11:30 am to 2 pm on Wednesday for the verification of the names of the central committee members and lawmakers of the proposed Unified Socialist party.

The ordinance on political parties recommended by the cabinet on August 17 was issued on August 18. Former Prime Minister Nepal had reached EC for party registration.

The Commission has urged the lawmakers who have registered for the new party to attend in person with their citizenship certificates on Wednesday.

Unified Socialist party leaders have been are holding various meetings and discussions at Chandragiri Resort since Monday.
