President makes 20 appointments to constitutional bodies



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed 20 individuals as office bearers and members in various constitutional bodies on Thursday.

President Bhandari made the appointments based on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, according to a statement issued by the President’s Office.

A meeting of the Constitutional Council last month had recommended filling vacant posts in different constitutional bodies, including the Public Service Commission, National Women’s Commission, National Dalit Commission, Tharu Commission and Muslim Commission, among others.

Madhav Prasad Regmi has been appointed the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Dr. Hari Poudel and Sumitra Shrestha the Commissioners of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

Similarly, Sagun Shamsher Rana has been appointed as the Election Commissioner of the Election Commission, and senior advocate Ram Prasad Bhandari has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Council.
