Chief Justice turns a blind eye to ‘Doctrine of Necessity’: PM’s Press Advisor Thapa

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa has lashed out at Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (SC) Cholendra Shumsher Rana for intentionally turning a blind eye to the ‘Doctrine of Necessity.’

Posting a twitter message on Thursday, Press Advisor Thapa said the post of the Health Minister has been rendered vacant at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is taking a heavy toll in Nepal.

“The COVID-19 is taking a heavy toll on the human health. People have to be saved by bringing vaccines. The post of the Health Minister has been rendered vacant. Home Minister has been relieved of his responsibilities at a time when flood-hit people are in dire need of rescue and relief operations. There is a dire need of peace and security to hold elections. Where is the Doctrine of Necessity?,” Thapa tweeted.

The SC on Tuesday relieved 20 ministers of their responsibilities arguing that the caretaker government cannot reform the cabinet.
