New Zealand extends $1 mln support to Nepal



KATHMANDU: New Zealand has pledged $1 million support to Nepal to combat COVID-19.

New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Nanaia Mahuta, taking to Twitter on May 21, had committed to $1 million in assistance to Nepal COVID-19 response.

In the tweet, Miniter Mahuta said the fund will go to UNICEF to help with emerging health needs and community resilience.

The Minister also noted that New Zealand and Nepal have a special relationship going back to Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary, two first-ever conquers of Mount Everest.
