KATHMANDU: The rate of COVID-19 cases has gone down this week. Organizing a press meet on Sunday the Ministry of Health and Population informed that the COVID-19 cases have decreased this week.
Epidemiologist Dr Archana Shrestha said the rate of COVID-19 has decreased by 5.7 percent this week compared to the previous week.
A total of 7,914 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours. This number is less than that of Saturday’s. The Health Ministry had reported 8,980 cases on Saturday.
According to Shrestha, the cases decreased in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini while the number went up in Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Karnali and Lumbini Pradesh.
Bagmati witnessed decrease in COVID-19 cases by 16.31 percent, Gandaki 10.87 percent and Lumbini, 19.1 percent. But, the cases have gone up in Pradesh 2. Pradesh 2 saw increase in COVID-19 cases by 105.1 percent and by 26.8 percent in Pradesh 1, by 29.1 percent in Karnali and by 9.6 percent in Sudurpaschim.
According to her, this year, the death rate from COVID-19 is put at 1.31 percent while it was 0.75 percent in the previous year.
According to Dr Krishna Prasad Paudel, the director oat the Epidemiology and Infectious Disease and Control Division, 10 districts are at high-risk of COVID-19 infections.
They are Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Banke, Rupandehi, Morang, Kaski, Kailali, Dang and Chitwan.
