Nepal-Khanal group not to furnish clarification to PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Leaders of Nepal-Khanal faction of ruling CPN-UML have decided not to furnish clarifications to Prime Minister KP Oli.

The establishment faction on Saturday had sent a letter to UML leaders including Madhav Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and Bhim Rawal seeking clarifications from them within 24 hours.

Leader Bhim Rawal of the faction said they are not going to submit clarifications to Prime Minister Oli since he himself has become illegitimate by dismantling the party structure created following the Ninth General Convention.

“Party chair Oli himself has become illegitimate. He has demoralized party cadres by taking unconstitutional moves one after the other,” said Rawal, adding, “It is not necessary to submit clarifications to the illegitimate party chair.”

Rawal further said party chair Oli himself has to furnish clarifications since he has made the party like his private company by dismantling the structure created following the Ninth General Convention, often took unconstitutional moves and carried out activities against the party statue.

Secretary at the UML central party office Sher Bahadur Tamang had sent a letter to 11 federal lawmakers of the Nepal-Khanal faction to furnish clarifications within 24 hours.

Clarifications had been sought seeking reasons why they were absent in the meeting of the House of Representatives on May 10 during the confidence motion, why they did not cast votes for Ram Bahadur Thapa in the National Assembly elections and why they signed for electing Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba.
