KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa has criticized the incumbent political system claiming totalitarianism, proselytism and autocracy has shadowed in the country.
Commenting on the ongoing turmoil and its connection with today (Baishakh 11) on his social media post, Thapa has accused the political parties of betraying the monarchy.
“The agitation against the erstwhile system ended with an agreement between the king and the agitating parties on this day, then,” Thapa wrote, clarifying, “The king handed over power to the political parties. However, the agitating parties betrayed the monarchy. Democracy is now dominated by chaos, proselytism and totalitarianism.”
The political parties and then King Gyanendra Shah had reached an agreement on April 24, 2006. Abiding by the agreement the royal handed over the state-power to the political parties; however, the parties declared Nepal a republic on 29 May, 2008.
