Former King Gyanendra Shah admitted to hospital



KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah and his wife Komal Shah have been admitted to a hospital for the treatment of coronavirus related infection.

According to the former King’s Secretariat, the former royal couple, who were in isolation at Nirmal Niwas after noticing COVID-19 infection, were admitted to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon.

Former King Gyanendra and his wife Komal Shah were confirmed of the coronavirus infection on April 20.

The Shahs had left for India on April 8 at the invitation of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 Special Committee Haridwar, India.

The royals had taken the ‘Royal bath’ on April 12 and had entertained meetings with various political and religious leaders during their stay at Haridwar.

During the visit, the hosts had welcomed and honored former King Shah as the King of Hindu Kingdom Nepal.

The Shahs had returned home on April 18.
