Dharahara fell once for all; now it will never repeat: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has inaugurated newly constructed Dharahara on Saturday.

Speaking at the inauguration program, Prime Minister Oli said the newly constructed Dharahara is more beautiful, attractive and stronger than the previous one and that it has been constructed as per the original design.  He assured that Dharahara fell once for all, now it will never crumble in the days ahead.

Prime Minister Oli inaugurated Dharahara by releasing an inscription amidst a program organized at Sundhara, the location of Dharahara.

Sharing his feelings when he reached atop Dharahara, Oli said he felt as if he was on Eiffel Tower of Paris.

However, there are still some works remaining to be accomplished so people have to wait for at least for a month to view the scene from the tower.

The old Dharahara was of 11 stories before it was broken down by the earthquake of 1990 BS and then it was limited to nine stories after its two stories crumbled.

Dharahara has been built at the estimated cost of Rs 34,800,000 and an inadequate fund will be covered by the government, said the NRA.

He also assured that the government would provide employment opportunities to a member of the victims who died when old Dharahara crumbled in the mega earthquake of 2015.

Meanwhile, Oli kept boasting of accomplishing the Melamchi Drinking Water Project and making 170 million liters of water available for Kathmanduites on a daily basis, historical Ranipokhari reconstruction project among other development works carried out by the government.
