Govt directs all 77 DAOs to ready quarantine camps fearing second wave of COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The government has sent a circular to all the district administration offices (DAO) to ready quarantine camps and isolation centers fearing the second wave of coronavirus infection cases in the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all 77 DAOs to ensure that people are using masks and sanitizers and adhering to social distancing rules.

Chief District Officer is the coordinator of the District Crisis Management Center (DCMC) that manages and controls the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the district. Similarly, COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) is a high-level mechanism that makes suggestions and recommend the government regarding the management and control of the pandemic.

Earlier, schools and colleges had been used as quarantine and isolation centers when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak in Nepal.

Similarly, the Home Ministry has also directed the all the DAOs to send a list of possible facilities available in the district that could be used for isolation centers and quarantine camps.

The DAOs have been authorized to make changes in health safety standards for the operation of hotels, restaurants, dance clubs and party places in the districts.

Nepal recorded a total of 188 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 276,244 in the country as of Tuesday afternoon.

Likewise, the Ministry shared that the country has currently 1,128 active cases of the coronavirus.
