Insurance premium increase over 38% than last year

Rs 12.5 billion insurance premiums collected in a month



KATHMANDU: The year has seen a massive increase in insurance premiums than the year before as more than 12 billion rupees insurance premiums have been collected in the month of Mangsir (November 16- December 15).

The data released by the Ministry of Finance reveal that out of 61.60 billion collected as insurance premium till December 15, 49.10 billion had been collected till November 15 in this fiscal year.

It also shows that in the one month after November 15, 12.5  billion insurance premium has been collected.

Of the total premiums collected till  Mid-December, 86.6 percent was for life insurance and 13.4 percent for non-life insurance.

Compared to the last year’s premiums, the collection of insurance premiums has increased by 38.84 percent till the same date last year.  As of December 15 last year, 44.36 billion insurance premiums had been collected then.

The Ministry has stated that the economic activities are returning to normalcy after the waning of the coronavirus pandemic.
