PM Oli challenges dissident leaders to face elections and prove their popularity

"They are anti-nationalists"

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has challenged leaders of the dissident faction of the Nepal Communist Party to face the general elections and prove their popularity.

Alleging the Prachanda-Nepal faction of dancing to the tunes of “others”, Prime Minister Oli said, “Their activities prove that they are against political stability in the country.”

PM Oli said the Prachanda-Nepal faction wants political instability in the country to fulfill their vested interests adding, “They are anti-nationalists. Their activities are undemocratic and unconstitutional.”

Speaking at a program in the capital on Sunday, PM Oli ridiculed the dissident faction of the NCP asking, “You need to understand that the post of a lawmaker is not like a permanent job. Don’t ever expect this to happen.”

“If you have the guts, face the people and prove your popularity,” he challenged the leaders who are calling PM Oli’s move to dissolve the House “unconstitutional”.

He further said, “How could you call me as autocrat when I am asking you to go to the people. Let the people decide.”

Prime Minister Oli also urged people not to be in a dilemma as the general elections will be held at the stipulated time. “People who are acting against the country should be wiped out,” he added.

On a softer note, he said, “Perhaps, I am the only Prime Minister in the world to have undergone kidney transplant twice. People, who have both kidneys functioning well are running away from their responsibilities.”

He added that the government is doing its best to fulfill the aspirations of the people. “However, there are limitations,” he added urging people to understand the government’s problem.
