9 more Nepalis succumb to COVID-19 abroad

KATHMANDU: Nine more Nepalis have died of COVID-19 in different countries.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), four persons have died this week in the UK, three in Kuwait, one in Portugal, and one in Malaysia. With this, the death toll has reached 327 in 20 countries so far.

According to the Health Committee under the NRNA, the coronavirus has spread to 327 countries.

According to Sanjiv Sapkota, coordinator of the health committee under the NRNA, as many as 56,026 Nepalis living in 50 countries have been infected with coronavirus till Saturday evening, out of which 53,432 persons have been recovered from the virus. The recovery rate stands at 95 percent.

According to the Committee, more Nepalis in the Middle East, including the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Malaysia and Japan, have been infected with corona this week.

Likewise, NRNA has stated that an average of 2,000 Nepalis is being infected in a week.

The Health Committee has urged to take precautions as vaccination campaign has not been started in many countries including Nepal even though vaccination campaign has been started in different countries of the world.
