NC Province 2 convention: Voting underway



JANAKPUR: Nepali Congress (NC) is holding elections in Province 2 under the 14th General Convention to elect a new leadership today.

The convention, which was earlier scheduled to be held on Wednesday was rescheduled for today citing technical problems.

The polling had to be postponed due to a delay in the printing of ballot papers.

Parliamentary Party leader of Pradesh 2 Ram Saroj Yadav, who is also the incumbent Minister for Physical Infrastructure, and former NC Rautahat district President Krishna Yadav are in the fray for the post of president of Province 2.

Dhan Lal Thokar and Binod Khanal have registered their candidacies for the post of vice presidents from the Ram Saroj Yadav panel.

Similarly, Naresh Yadav and Haresh Yadav have registered their nominations for the post of general secretaries while Arbinda Amatya, Binod Yadav and Nirmala Subedi have filed candidacies for the post of joint general secretaries.

Similarly, from the Krishna Yadav panel, Birendra Singh, Chandra Shekhar Yadav registered their nominations for the post of vice presidents. Upendra Yadav and Brihaspati Kumar Shrestha have filed their candidacies for the post of general secretaries.

Similarly, Jayanarayan Yadav, Parshuram Chaudhari and Rita Yadav have filed candidacies for the post of joint general secretaries.

Of the presidential candidates, Ram Saroj is considered close to Bimalendra Nidhi while Krishna is from party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.  There is an alliance between Nidhi and Dr Shekhar Koirala.

There are 1,980 voters in the province convention.

The province conventions have been already concluded in other six provinces.
