Maoist Chair Prachanda says allow teachers to engage in politics

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that teachers should be allowed to actively do politics. He added that the policy of not allowing teachers to do politics is a policy to weaken the party system.

He assured teachers that an environment conducive to doing politics would be created without causing them any inconvenience.

Addressing the second National Council of the Central Committee of the Maoists-affiliated Unified All Nepal Teachers Association on Tuesday, Chairman Prachanda directed the teachers to actively work for political transformation.

Stating that the Minister of Education was from the Maoist Center in the incumbent government, he said the party would do its best to solve the problem of teachers, including discrimination prevalent regarding the teaching profession.

Prachanda was of the view that the country could be driven through a campaign of social and political transformation only if the teachers were allowed to engage in politics.
