Nepal Bar announces march-past from Supreme Court to Baluwatar

NBA claims all professional organizations will join Thursday's march-past



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA), which has been agitating for the last three weeks demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, has announced to march from the Supreme Court premises to the official residence of the Prime Minister and Chief Justice, Baluwatar on Thursday.

NBA has scheduled the march past to Baluwatar for Thursday, November 25 at 2 pm.

Addressing the protest program on Tuesday, NBA Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha said that the program was decided as per the suggestions of the civil society.

According to Shrestha, all professional organizations will participate in the march.

Earlier, Bar Association had discussed the agitation with the Nepal Engineers Association, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Medical Association and others. Shrestha said that the program was decided as per the discussions.

The agitating NBA also handed over a memorandum to the officials of the federal parliament and representatives of various political parties on Monday. NBA sought the parliament to initiate impeachment against Chief Justice Rana.

As part of the third phase of the protest, NBA has been holding sit-ins at the SC premises for two hours daily. Under the third phase of the protest program, a protest program will be held on Wednesday (tomorrow) led by the High Court Bar Association across the country.
