KATHMANDU: CPN-UML is holding ward convention across the county today.

The ward conventions of the main opposition are being held in all 6,743 wards across the country simultaneously.

UML has already sent a circular to all the wards to hold conventions in consensus to the maximum possible and conduct elections through democratic processes in those wards where there is no consensus.

Similarly, the UML is holding village/municipal conventions in 753 wards on October 26, informed Surya Thapa, deputy chief of UML Central Publicity Department.

As per the UML Statute, a ward committee at the local level will have one chairperson, one vice chairperson, secretary and two deputy secretaries at the local level.

Likewise, village/ municipal committees will have 75, sub metropolitan and metropolitan committees will have 85 and 101 officer-bearers and members, respectively.

The UML is holing 10th General Convention in Chitwan from November 26 to 28.
