Unified Socialist decides against passage of MCC in current situation

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Unified Socialist Party has decided that the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact cannot be passed in the current situation.

The party’s Central Committee (CC) meeting held Thursday concluded that the party can move MCC ahead only by making it favorable to national interest.

Party’s Secretary Jagannath Khatiwada, while announcing decisions of the CC meeting, said MCC could not be passed in the current situation as it was not in the national interest. He said, “We can move forward only by reaching political consensus and making it favorable to national interest. Else, it cannot be passed in present situation.”
