KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a fellow soldier with an SMG gun on allegation of murder of a sergeant of Nepal Army in Bharatpur Chitwan.
According to Chitwan SP Om Adhikari, Ganga Dhar Poudel, 26, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has been nabbed in connection with the murder of a Nepal Army sergeant found shot dead in Bharatpur, Chitwan.
The body of Bharat Gurung, 36, who was on leave then, was found in a canal at Simaldanda of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-17. Gurung, a sergeant at Mahendra Dal at Shivapuri National Park, Tokha, Kathmandu, was the permanent inhabitant of Nilkantha Municipality of Dhading. Poudel also was in Mahendra Dal.
Police recovered an SMG gun and Rs 800,000 from Poudel.
The police informed that the preliminary investigation showed Poudel had embezzled Rs 900,000 from Gurung and killed him to avoid paying him back.
After recovering Gurung’s body, the police had suspected that Gurung might have been shot dead.
