UML’s Oli faction has no moral rights to talk about discipline and constitutionalism: Gajurel

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center lawmaker Haribol Gajurel has remarked that CPN-UML’s KP Oli faction had no right and moral grounds to talk about discipline for UML Chairman Oli always made a mockery of law and discipline.

Taking part in Friday’s House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, lawmaker Gajurel said as the then Prime Minister Oli never abided by constitution and the party statute, it is shameful for leaders of Oli camp to talk about discipline and abidance to the law.

He said that Oli had dissolved the HoR twice as if he was still following the constitution of 1990.

“UML Chairman Oli did not accept the new constitution. He was obsessed with the constitution of 1990 and never accepted the agendas established by the people’s movement of 2008,” Gajurel said.

He claimed that Article 76 (5) was enacted after a long discussion to end the arbitrary rule and give parliament a full life. Gajurel asked UML parliamentary party’s deputy leader Subash Nembang to remember the discussion held while drafting the constitution and speak out honestly.

He further added that the court’s interpretation that Article 76 (5) would not apply to party whips was a victory for the people.
