22 UML lawmakers of Nepal-Khanal faction furnish clarification

KATHMANDU: Twenty two leaders of Nepal-Khanal faction have responded to the clarification sought by the establishment of the CPN-UML.

The UML leaders, who gave the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, have furnished the clarification on Thursday.

In the clarification letter, they have stated that various activities took place as part of protest against erstwhile Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after he tried to become the Prime Minister again even after losing the vote of confidence in the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR).

“We took part in the vote of confidence as a lawmaker of the HoR to form an alternative government in line with Article 76 (5) of the Constitution after the House was reinstated,” reads the clarification letter.

The Supreme Court has ruled that no parties can take actions against its lawmakers when they take part in the vote of confidence in line with Article 76 (5) of the Confidence when it reinstated the HoR on June 12.
