Senior Advocate Yadav argues SC verdict should declare Deuba Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Mahadev Yadav has demanded that Supreme Court should appoint Nepali Congress (NC) President and opposition alliance leader Sher Bahadur Deuba the prime minister as he meets all the criteria for the appointment.

Taking part on the ongoing hearing on the writ petitions related to the dissolution of the House of Representatives, Yadav argued on Wednesday that NC leader Deuba who claimed the majority in the parliament deserves to be appointed as the Prime Minister.

“Prime Minister has repeatedly committed unconstitutional acts. The dissolution of the parliament from time to time raises the issue of malice. The constitution is repeatedly violated by the Prime Minister,” Yadav said, “Deuba’s claim is lawful and just from a constitutional point of view as well.”

Stating that there could be no stronger claim than the signature of the majority lawmakers in the parliament, senior advocate Yadav said that an order should be issued by the court for the appointment of Deuba as the Prime Minister.

He also argued that the lawmakers are free to choose their Prime Minister and the party whip is not mandatory on such occasions.
