NEPSE sees three records Sunday

KATHMANDU: The stock market has set historical record again.

With the NEPSE index surging 32.81 points Sunday, NEPSE has reached a historical height of 2820 points. This is the record-breaking height NEPSE attained so far.

According to Spokesperson of Nepal Stock Exchange Murahari Parajuli, the market, which has reached a record high, also set two other new records on Sunday: the record-high total trading volume during the day and the total market capitalization.

More than 25.163 million shares were traded in the market Sunday. This is also a record. Earlier, a record 25.121 million shares were traded last Thursday. Today’s market has broken the record in terms of trading volume.

Shares worth more than Rs 12 billion were bought and sold on Sunday. It also holds the record for the second-largest transaction amount. The previous highest turnover was Rs 11.95 billion.

Today, development banks and finance groups have gained and been green.

As the sub-indices of these groups ran at a bullish pace, investors of some weaker companies also became rich. Less than 10 minutes after the start of trading on Sunday, the NEPSE index fell by around 50 points. Since then, the index has risen by 32.81 points to reach it to 2,820.

Analysts say the rise in liquidity in the banking system, the influx of investments from other sectors due to persistent sanctions, and declining bank interest rates contributed to the record-breaking growth Sunday.
