UML Chairman Oli seeks explanation from 11 lawmakers



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has sought an explanation from 11 lawmakers of his party, including Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, and nine others.

According to UML party office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, Chairman Oli has already sent letters to them asking them to furnish a satisfactory response within 24 hours.

Chairman Oli has asked as to why they violated the party’s whip while taking the vote of confidence.

Sources said that Chairman Oli may even expel them from the party if the answers were not satisfactory.

Ruling CPN-UML is preparing to send letters of explanation to 11 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal on Sunday.

UML office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang said that the letters would be sent today as per the decision of the party’s Standing Committee meeting held on Saturday.

Twenty-six lawmakers from the UML’s Nepal faction had signed in favor of appointing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister.

The party has sent letters to Madhav Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Mukunda Neupane, Kalyani Khadka, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karna, Laxmi Chaudhary, Kalila Khatun and Nira Jairu.
